M. Michael Cohen, Jr

M. Michael Cohen, Jr. studied at the University of Michigan, Tufts University, Medford, Massachusetts, the University of Minnesota Duluth, and Boston University. During his postgraduate training Cohen completed his fellowship in syndromology and medical genetics with the oral pathologist and geneticist Robert Gorlin (1923-), who is eponymously associated with a large number of eponyms, one of which is the Gorlin-Cohen syndrome.

Cohen holds a bachelor's degree in anthropology, a dental qualification, a master's degree in oral and maxillofacial pathology, a doctorate in anthropology and a certificate in international health. He became professor of oral and maxillofacial surgery and of paediatrics at the University of Washington in Seattle. In 1981 he moved to a chair at Dalhousie University in Canada.

Cohen's bibliography comprises more than 230 articles, 11 books as author, co-author or editor, and 28 chapters.
