Biography of Eugen Holländer
Eugen Holländer spent his student years at Göttingen, Strassburg, and Munich, obtaining his doctorate in 1890. He subsequently first worked as assistant under Oskar Lassar (1849-1907) in Berlin and John Jacob Abel (1857-1938), then worked in the same position for fifteen years with James Adolf Israel (1848-1926). From 1907 – now titular professor – he worked as a surgeon in Berlin.
He distinguished himself through his hot air treatment of lupus, chemotherapy of lupus erythematodes and the treatment of vesicular tuberculosis with calomel iodine. His name became particularly known as a founder of the medico arti historic trend in Germany and his work on medicine in classical painting.
