Biography of Charles Lucien de Beurmann
Charles Lucien de Beurmann studied at Paris, became an interne in 1874, Médecin des hôpitaux in 1884. In 1889 he became Chef de service at the Hôpital de Lourcine, then moved to Hôpital Saint.-Louis, where he remained until 1916. His numerous travels overseas – Persia, India, Japan – gave him ample opportunity to study exotic diseases, particularly lepra and tropical syphilis. e distinguished himself particularly in his contributions to the study of diseases in the group of sporotrichosis. He, and his pupils Louis Ramond (1879–) and Henri Gougerot, made numerous studies of sporotrichosis. With Gougerot and Vaucher he published works on Mycoderma cutaneum.
