Biography of Karl Otto von Eicken
Karl Otto von Eicken studied in Kiel, Geneva, Munich, Berlin, and Heidelberg, where he was conferred doctor of medicine in 1899. He spent his period internship and period as assistant physician at the Heidelberg surgical clinic, later at the otological clinic as well as the laryngo-rhinological clinic in Freiburg, and at the oto-laryngological clinic in Basel. In 1903 he received the venia legendi for laryngo-rhinology in Freiburg im Breisgau, in 1909 also for otology, and in 1910 became professor extraordinary. In 1911 he was appointed full professor in Giessen, and in 1922 moved to the same tenure in Berlin.
