Biography of Jules Badal
Jules Badal studied in Strasbourg and received his doctorate in that university in 1864. He devoted his efforts to ophthalmology and in 1878 became a lecturer in this speciality in Bordeaux, being appointed to the chair in 1882. Badal concerned himself in particular with work on physiological optics, the introduction of the metric system in eye medicine, refraction measurements, accommodation and visual acuity, and periscopic glasses.
