Biography of Victor Pavlovich Protopopov
Victor Pavlovich Protopopov studied medicine at the Military Medical Academy and graduated 1906. In 1909 he obtained his medical doctorate and subsequently worked with Vladimir Mikhaylovich Bekhterev (1857-1927) until 1921.
From 1921 to 1923 he was professor of pathology at Perm University, and from 1923 to 1941 held the chair of psychiatric disease at the Medical institute at Harkov. He founded the cathedra for higher neural function and he was a manager of the Psychoneurologic institute.
In 1944, Protopopov migrated to Kiev where he organised a department of psychiatry at the Institute of clinical physiology of the Ukrainian Academy of science, of which he had been a member since 1935. Victor Pavlovich Protopopov published over 110 articles.
