Biography of Alfred-Aimé Heurtaux

Alfred-Aimé Heurtaux studied medicine in Paris, became intern in 1855 and received his doctor title in 1860. He was appointed professor of clinical surgery at the École de Médecine de Nantes in 1862 and from 1888 was chief surgeon at the city hospital in Nantes.

Heurtaux was a corresponding member of the Académie de Médecine and Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur. He married Delphine Céleste Marie Varsavaux de Henelee (1835-1905) and they had five children, five daughters and a son.

He wrote articles for the Nouveau Dictionnaire de Médecine et de Chirurgie.
