Biography of Julius Bauer
Julius Bauer attended the universities of Munich, Berlin, and Strassburg, receiving his doctorate at the latter in 1903. He spent his internship and was assistant physician at the Friedrich-Kinderkrankenhaus in Berlin under Adolf Aron Baginsky (1843-1918), at the Frankfurter Seruminstitut under Paul Ehrlich (1854-1915) and from 1906 to 1918 at the Kinderklinik under Arthur Schlossmann (1867-1932) of the Düsseldorf academy.
He was habilitated for paediatrics and sero therapy in Düsseldorf in 1910. From 1910 to 1918 he was a member of the academy and then became chief physician to the Hamburger Säuglingsheim. His fields of work comprise the biology of milk, tuberculosis and infectious diseases. Besides his own publications he contributed to the works of various other physicans, among them Engel-Pirquet's book on tuberculosis in children.
