Biography of Niels Christian Gauslaa Danbolt
Niels Christian Gauslaa Danbolt graduated in medicine at the University of Oslo in 1925. After his period as internist, he came to the department of diseases of the skin at Ullevål sykehus, and the next year to Rikshospitalet. He received his medical doctorate in 1932, and from 1936 to 1970 was head physician at the dermatological department of Rikshospitalet as well as professor of medicine at the University of Oslo. Danbolt was recognized as an outstanding diagnostician and clinical teacher.
Danbolt is also associated with Boeck’s sarcoid, or benign lymphogranulomatosis, as he in 1947 re-examined Boeck’s original patient, then aged 80. See under Cæsar Peter Møller Boeck, Norwegian dermatologist, 1845-1917.
