Biography of Loren Joseph Larsen
Loren Joseph Larsen, born of Norwegian parentage, attended Chicago Rush Medical College. Following graduation in 1941 he and trained in orthopaedic surgery at the University of California, San Francisco. From 1968 until his retirement in 1980 he was chief surgeon at the Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children, San Francisco, and held an academic appointment at the University of California Medical School. He encountered "his" system of multiple congenital dislocations while working in San Francisco.
Larsen was chairman of the department of orthopaedic surgery at the Children's Hospital and chairman emeritus at the Shriner's Hospital. His hobbies are gardening, fishing and travel.
