Biography of Hans Curschmann
Curschmann studied in Freiburg, Leipzig, and Munich, receiving his doctorate in 1900; from 1900 to 1907 he worked at the pathological-anatomical institute in Leipzig as well as at the medical clinics in Heidelberg, Berlin, and Tübingen. He was habilitated in Tübingen in 1906, and from 1907 to 1916 was chief physician at the department of internal medicine in the city hospital in Mainz. In 1916 he became extraordinarius and director of the medical clinic in Rostock, where he assumed the chair and became director of the medical clinic in 1921. Curschmann concernend himself in particular with organic neurology and psychneuroses, and, in internal medicine, with constitutional pathology, endocrinous diseases and diseases of the blood, diseases of the heart, tuberculosis, and balneology.
