Otto Heinrich Enoch Becker
Otto Heinrich Enoch Becker completed his studies in Vienna as a student of Carl Ferdinand von Arlt (1812-1887) and received his doctorate in 1859. From October 1, 1868, he worked as professor of ophthalmology i Heidelberg. He was one of the most outstanding pathologists of the von Graefe era, and in 1887 in Heidelberg founded the Graefe Museum. His long list of publications includes works on the visible manifestations of the movement of the blood in human retina, on strictures of the lacrimal canal, on congenital total colour blindness, and on the vessels of the human macula lutea. In 1866 he published a German edition of Franz Cornelis Donder's (1818-1889) famous work On the Anomalies of Accommodation and Refraction of the Eye. London, 1864 (Die Anomalien der Accomodation und Refraktion des Auges).
