A maplike dystrophy of the cornea characterized by greyish white, discrete, but sometimes confluent spheres (or microcysts) measuring usually 0,1 to 0,5 mm in diameter and situated in the superficial portion of the cornea, geographic map-like lines, and greyish fingerprint-like refractile lines, seen on slit-lamp examination. In the original report, the patients were five adult women in otherwise good health.
