Rollet's syndrome (J. Rollet)

    A syndrome in which lesions of the apex of the orbit produce sensory-motor ophthalmoplegia and optic nerve atrophy. Lesions causing this syndrome may be traumatic, inflammatory, or neoplastic. Clinically there is involvement of the third, fourth, and sixth cranial nerves. Symptoms include ophthalmoplegia with impairment of vision that may lead to blindness, ptosis, varying degrees of exophthalmos; hyperesthesia or anaesthesias of the forehead, upper eyelid, and cornea; and vasomotor disturbances.
