Jaksch' anaemia
Related people
A chronic anaemic disease occurring in children under 3 years of age. A symptom complex characterised by acute haemolytic anaemia, hepatosplenomegaly, and infections associated with several chronic diseases, like tuberculosis, congenital syphilis, gastrointestinal disorders, and malnutrition. Presents with listlessness, weakness, gastrointestinal troubles and irregular fever.
Many writers now consider this not to be a separate entity but as a manifestation of various anaemias and infections, and the eponym thus obsolete.
